Connor McDavid made his NHL debut for the Edmonton Oilers on October 9th, 2015 at the home of the Florida Panthers after being selected first overall in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. The honor of being the first overall pick has been shared by hockey legends such as Guy Lafleur, Mario Lemieux and Alexander Ovechkin. McDavid had been on the radar of every NHL scout from an early age, and on April 18, 2015, the Oilers did not hesitate to take him with the first pick. At the 2015 World Junior Championship, McDavid represented team Canada and helped bring home gold. He also led the tournament with eight assists and was named to the tournament all-star team. In 2016 at the World Hockey Championship, McDavid played a pivotal role on the Team Canada team that won gold. McDavid has signed the top segment of the #9 on the back of the jersey and inked the inscription of “#1 Pick 2015” on the middle segment of the #9.
